MOMOTOMBO | CERRO NEGRO | COSIGÜINA | TELICA | FULL MOON | ASOSOSCA | EL HOYO

Discover and swim in the beautiful Laguna Asososca

Close to Momotombo and similarly undiscovered by the vast majority of travellers, and indeed locals, the hidden Laguna Asososca is a marvel to all. Perched at the bottom of the volcano which shares the same name Laguna Asososca, it contradicts the hot and dry surroundings with marvellously cool and refreshing waters. On the walk to the laguna, we get spectacular views of Momotombo, Lago de Managua, the pacific and of course the Laguna itself before making our way down to swim in the pure volcanic waters. This hike also includes a visit to the ruins of León Viejo, the first capital of Nicaragua which was destroyed by a violent eruption of Momotombo in 1670.
