VOLCANO SURFING

Surf down an active volcano.

We meet at the Quetzaltrekkers office at 8:00 in the morning. From the office private transport takes us on a one-hour journey directly to the base of Cerro Negro, passing through beautiful Nicaraguan farmlands on the way. Then we unload our volcano boards and begin a 45-minute hike to Cerro Negro's summit.

After taking in the impressive views from the top, we receive a tutorial on safely descending the volcano, put on a protective jumpsuit, and we set off volcano surfing. We quickly reach the bottom, load our boards in the truck, and drive to the ranger station to prepare lunch. If you choose, you have the option to climb Cerro Negro again for another run down while lunch is being prepared. After lunch we return to Leon, arriving around 2:00.

Start at 8:00 am in Quetzaltrekkers office
Back the same day at 14:00 pm in Quetzaltrekkers office.
