After 7 months of confinement as a result of Covid-19, EDELAC was forced to drastically change the education model, methodology and strategies of teaching. Distance learning has been slow because most parents have few formal studies or are illiterate in which they can do little or nothing to help their children. The implementation of the online classes that EDELAC implemented has been made difficult by the lack of technology in their homes. The parents of families and children do not have enough knowledge to interact with teachers online, many do not have smartphones, laptops or computers and do not have home internet lines.
Communication by phone, WhatsApp and other alternative forms of teaching with students is evident that most of them manifest fatigue, boredom, stress and conflictive attitudes due to confinement. They long for contact with their classmates and teachers and miss living together and relating to other children, as playing and learning is part of their growth. As well as this, families go through various conflicts such as alcoholism that triggers abuse of their children.
Many parents are desperate due to pressures on food expenses in the family, others have abandoned their children in the responsibilities of schoolwork which involve their children in work tasks for family support.
Many families were infected by Covid-19, and there is no exact number of infections for many reasons including, preference to remaining silent and the attempt to cure at home due to discrimination as well as the mistrust that families receive from the community and that hospitals are in complete chaos.
The emotional state of the staff is tense due to the change of educational plans. The way of teaching was developed at a distance with different schedules, adapting to the new technology for the development of virtual classes. All teachers were affected by the disease directly and indirectly, six teachers were infected, another five had sick relatives, spending entire weeks in quarantine. Transportation for teachers was limited, many left the city, therefore they had to pay for taxis to transport themselves generating additional expenses.
EDELAC acquired modern technology equipment to teach the online classes in a professional way, combined with the delivery of physical sheets of printed tasks to the students to avoid expenses to the parents. There was permanent telephone contact to answer questions and needs of the children and parents related to education. Furthermore there was support for a group of students with internet recharges to attend classes online.
Of 170 students, approximately 10% are unlikely to be able to continue to the next grade, because contact with their families has been lost, or they have returned to their place of origin.

Después de 7 meses de confinamiento producto del Covid-19, EDELAC se vio obligado a cambiar drásticamente el modelo, metodología y estrategias de educación, aunque la enseñanza a distancia se ha sido lento porque la mayoría de padres de familia tienen pocos estudios formales o analfabetas que poco o nada pueden hacer para ayudar a sus hijos; por otra parte, la implementación de las clases online que implementó EDELAC ha dificultado por la carencia tecnológica en las viviendas, los padres de familias y niños no tienen los conocimientos suficientes para interactuar con los profesores en línea, muchos no cuentan con teléfonos inteligentes, laptops o computadoras y no poseen líneas de internet domiciliario.
La comunicación por teléfono, whastApp y otras formas alternativas de los profesores con los alumnos se videncia que en su mayoría manifiestan cansancio, aburrimiento, estrés y actitudes conflictivas por el encierro, añoran el contacto con sus compañeros y maestros, extrañan la convivencia y relación con otros niños, jugar y aprender como parte de su crecimiento; por otra parte, las familias pasan por diversos conflictos familiares como el alcoholismo que desencadena maltrato hacia los hijos.
Muchos padres de familia están desesperados por presiones en gastos de comida en la familia, otros han abandonado a sus hijos en las responsabilidades de tareas escolares el cual fueron involucrando a sus hijos en tareas laborales para el sostenimiento familiar.
Muchas familias se contagiaron por el Covid-19, no hay número exacto de contagios porque prefieren aguardar silencio y curarse en casa por la discriminación, desconfianza que reciben de la comunidad; por otro lado, los hospitales están en completo caos.
El estado emocional del personal es tenso porque los planes educativos cambiaron, la forma de enseñanza se desarrolló a distancia con horarios distintos, adaptarse a la nueva tecnología para el desarrollo de las clases virtuales. Todos los docentes fueron afectados por la enfermedad de forma directa e indirecta, seis maestros fueron contagiados, otros cinco tuvieron familiares enfermos pasando semanas enteras en cuarentena. El transporte para los docentes se vio limitado, muchos vienen fuera de la ciudad, por lo tanto, tuvieron que pagar taxis para transportarse generando gastos adicionales.
EDELAC adquirió equipo de tecnología moderna para impartir las clases online de forma profesional combinado con la entrega de hojas físicas de tareas impresas a los estudiantes para evitar gastos a los padres, además se tuvo contacto telefónico permanente para atender dudas y necesidades de los niños y padres de familia relacionado a la educación, además se apoyó a un grupo de estudiantes con recargas de internet para que asistan a las clases online.
De 170 estudiantes, hay un 10% aproximado que tienen grandes posibilidades de no pasar al grado inmediato superior, porque se perdió el contacto con las familias, otros regresaron a su lugar de origen.
